PEAC in the North Metropolitan Education Region caters to the special learning needs of gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6. PEAC centres offer a wide range of extension courses as well as specialist courses in a variety of community and educational settings.  Over the last few years there has also been an early years extension program.

PEAC courses are self-funding and course charges range from a minimum of $10 up to $100 depending on course requirements, such as:

  • use of an external venue
  • incursions/excursions
  • specialist teachers e.g. chess, cartooning
  • materials and additional resources
  • consumables
  • clerical support

In order to qualify for the PEAC program, children are tested in Year 4 and, often, only the top 1% are selected for the program by the North Metro PEAC team.

Once your child is selected you will be responsible for making the choice of activity, paying for the course via the Bridge and transporting your child to and from the venue. Please note that the venue can change depending upon the specific activity that is chosen the term.
